If
you live in one of the highlighted counties on the map, you're part of
ACBL Unit #208, which is known as the Central Illinois Bridge Association
(CIBA). We're one of five Units that make up ACBL's District 8.
A portion of your ACBL dues goes directly to our Unit. The Unit Board of Directors, which consists of eight area representatives and three officers, is the elected body that oversees tournaments and programs that benefit our members. Their work includes:
Sponsoring sectionals, regionals and other bridge competitions.
Carrying out bridge promotions, charitable activities and membership
recruitment and retention programs.
Providing travel awards to members who represent District 8 in the
national finals of the Grand National Teams and North American
Pairs.
Subsidizing the sanction fees for special games at your local clubs. The
Unit rebates the extra fees back to club managers, which why you can play
in North American Pairs, Sectional-at-Clubs, instant matchpoint and
worldwide pair events for the same entry fees as your regular club
games.
Officers: CIBA Board officers are President Mike Tomlianovich of Bloomington, Vice-president Chuck Zalar of Springfield and Secretary Marilyn Stickel of Lacon.
